Tread of Pioneers Museum
“Tread of Pioneers” is the foremost museum in the small town of Steamboat Springs, but while the town is small, Tread of Pioneers Museum speaks to a much larger history. People coming here for a quick look-around frequently find themselves staying for over an hour, surprised and amazed by all there is to see!
Museums and Vacations Go Hand-in-Hand
If you’ve never considered visiting one of the many museums in Colorado while on vacation, we must encourage you to reconsider. Museums are especially local in nature, with exhibits unique to that area—any museum in a place you’ve never been to has things you’ve never seen! So, take advantage of them while you’re in the area!
Besides, history is extremely important in understanding where you are. Stories of a place make you appreciate better the amenities we enjoy today. They’ll reveal to you special points of the city you might otherwise miss. If you frequent Steamboat, then a museum will help you feel more connected to the ground under your feet. If you’re new here, then a quick trip to the museum will help you feel like you’re already familiar with the area.
The friendly staff of Tread of Pioneers Museum will help bring out the intrigue and excitement behind each exhibit. In addition to the information on Steamboat Springs and the recreated rooms of bygone eras, the museum features traveling exhibits. These often focus on settlers and pioneers of the American West, winter Olympic sports and Olympians, and Native American art and traditions. The museum hosts many events throughout the year; check the schedule to see what’s going on while you are visiting.
