Horseback Riding

 

Steamboat has a deep ranching heritage and what better way to explore it than at one of the local ranches and surrounding national forest on horseback. Many offer trail rides in both winter and summer and some offer pack and hunting trips as well. You can check out a few of the options below.

 

Dels Triangle 3 Ranch:

Del’s Triangle 3 is one of Colorado’s oldest licensed outfitters. The family has been in the valley for over 6 generations. They offer hourly horseback rides in the summer and winter, summer pack trips and elk & mule deer hunting camps. The ranch is located in north Routt County and trips go into the Mt Zirkel Wilderness and Routt National Forest. Visit their website for more information, rates and to book your trip.

 

Saddleback Ranch:

Saddleback Ranch is located just west of Steamboat and offers activities year-round. Its a family owned working cattle ranch and recreational business. In the summer they offer 2 hour rides, dinner rides and cattle drives.  Visit their website to learn more about their horseback rides and the other activities they offer year-round including snowmobiling, tubing and more.

 

 

Steamboat Lake Outfitters:

Located to the north of Steamboat near Steamboat Lake State Park, they offer horseback rides and pack trips into the Routt National Forest and Mt Zirkel Wilderness Area in the summer and early fall. They can offer beginner – experienced rides with personalized attention. Rides can also include fishing and full day rides include lunch. Visit their website for more information.

 

 

Steamboat Springs Stable – Sombrero Ranches:

Adjacent to the rodeo grounds on Howelsen Hill in downtown, Steamboat Springs Stable offers horseback rides on scenic mountain trails, pack and hunting rides, breakfast rides, kid’s rides and more.
