Fun Things to Do in Steamboat Springs: Visit the Haymaker Nordic Center
From December through March, the Haymaker Nordic Center is a great spot to enjoy the sport of cross-country skiing. You’ll find 8 kilometers of groomed trails for classic skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing, with all skill levels welcomed here. It is a fun thing to do in Steamboat Springs!
The Nordic Center also offers lessons in classic skiing, as well as offering rentals of all the necessary equipment, with fitting by a Nordic professional. Trail Access tickets are required, and multi-day passes are available. Enjoy some lunch after your ski session at the Haymaker Grill. The Nordic Center is open from 9 am to 4 pm daily.
Stop By the Steamboat Ski Touring Center
If you need even more trails to try, check out the Steamboat Ski Touring Center, home of some of the best Steamboat Springs winter activities. It’s got 15 kilometers for all skill levels to choose from, as well as 10 kilometers of snowshoe trails. Trails wind across meadows, through groves of aspens, and along Fish Creek for some of the most scenic winter recreation in the Yampa Valley. Hearty picnic lunches and snacks to take along on your trek are available at The Picnic Basket in the clubhouse.
Rental equipment fitted by experts is also available here, as are lessons in Classic and Skate skiing. Stop by here anytime from December through March, 9 am to 5 pm daily, to get your start in cross country skiing!
