Steamboat Springs Golf

Golf is certainly a special sport. It’s a test of coordination and focus, with no one but yourself between you and your goal. Of course, it’s also a social sport—it’s great to bring some friends or family along and chat while you walk, or can be an excuse to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while. But when it comes down to it, there’s nothing but you, the club, the ball, and the SMACK!

Perhaps coolest of all, golf changes entirely based on where you play it. One course can give you a totally different experience, challenge you in new ways, or simply give you lovely new views. Given that, it’s important for any golf aficionado to try new courses when they travel—or to travel to find new courses! So, grab the sunscreen (you’ll need it at 6,000 feet!) and come try Steamboat Springs golf!

Why Golf?

Golf only sounds boring if you’ve never tried it—the game is quietly addicting, as it constantly pushes you to better your strokes. That’s why people of all skill levels, even pros, can’t get enough of it! Besides, it’s another chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather of northern Colorado. After all, with summer highs barely passing 80s, what’s wrong with another excuse to go outside? Here are some places to go if you want to enjoy Colorado golf in and near Steamboat:

Rollingstone Ranch Golf Course

For friendly service and fast greens, you should check out Rollingstone Ranch. It’s an 18-hole course, and like most of Steamboat Springs golf courses, enjoys beautiful views of the mountains. It’s located less than ten minutes by car from the base of the ski area.

Haymaker Golf Course

Another Colorado golf course open to the general public, Haymaker is great for a round of golf. Like Rollingstone, they boast a fabulous staff. Haymaker also holds clinics; stop by if you’re in town for one and want to push your game further! Haymaker is south of town, on the west side of the US-40 after Colorado State Highway 131.

Steamboat Golf Club

A beautiful 9-hole, Par 35 course bordering the Yampa River, Steamboat Golf Club is a great place to play if you’re bringing youngsters along, as Children 12 and under can play here for free with a paying adult after 12PM. Find Steamboat Golf Club just 5 miles west of Steamboat Springs.

Maverick Mini Golf

Another great place to bring the kids, Maverick Mini Golf is a new 18-hole mini-golf course that is sure to delight your entire family. Enjoy playing uniquely challenging holes as you journey around this terraced course. Maverick Mini Golf opens at 11AM, with closing hours varying between 5PM to 7PM depending on the week. Find it in the Steamboat Base Area.
