The Tread of Pioneers Museum

The Tread of Pioneers Museum in Steamboat Springs, CO reveals the rich and layered history of this town from its early beginnings all the way to the present. Interactive Exhibits and Tours

In the summer, free weekly guided tours of the National Historic District, as well as Howelsen Hill are available. The Mineral Springs Walking Tour is a two-hour free tour in the summer of the over 100 springs with curative and medicinal properties that make Steamboat a world-class spa destination. A self-guided tour, the Historic Places Bike Tour, features such historic landmarks as the Seventh Street District and the Mesa School, among others. In addition, the museum features amazing exhibits that detail the life and culture of Native Americans as well as the history of agriculture, mining, pioneer settlement, and skiing.

Fun for the Whole Family

With special activities and hands-on interactive exhibits dedicated to kids such as the Kids Scavenger Hunt and other video and computer exhibits, the museum is a great place for the whole family to enjoy an educational and fun day. The Western Heritage Exhibit showcases everything pioneer from vintage firearms to the history of famous outlaws such as Harry Tracy.
