Hike, Bike, and Ski
Steamboat Springs is well-known as one of the best ski towns in the US. Family-friendly Steamboat Ski Resort boasts 165 trails on 2,965 acres and a world-class snow sports school. In summer months, the resort transforms into a mountain bikers dream, with trails, a bike park, and a biking skills school.
The area offers unparalleled beauty on an extensive network of hiking trails as well. Among Steamboat’s many great, family-friendly hikes, Fish Creek Falls is one of the best. Just minutes from downtown, this scenic trail is accessible to all skill-levels. A short walk down a gravel path will give you a picturesque view at the base of the towering 280-foot waterfall. A more moderate climb will offer beautiful views and take you to the upper falls and Long Lake, deep in the Routt National Forest.
In warmer months, don’t miss the Yampa River Botanic Park. Free and open to the public from May to October, the park and gardens are a unique Steamboat Springs attraction. The 6-acre park is located at the base of Mt. Werner, the Steamboat Ski Resort’s mountain. Frigid temperatures and high UV exposure due to altitude make growing plants in the park’s location a challenge, but more than 50 gardens thrive thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of organizations and individuals. The Yampa River Botanic Park is a popular wedding location and hosts music, educational programs, and yoga. The park also features unique sculptures by a number of different artists. It is a great place to visit while staying in one of our Steamboat Springs CO rentals!
