Off The Beaten Path Steamboat Springs Colorado

What do you call a bookstore, a cafe, and a wine bar under the same roof? Why, you call it Off The Beaten Path, of course! From its humble beginnings as a small bookstore, this vibrant store has turned into a lively place to meet and hangout from the moment it opens its doors at 7AM until it closes at 9PM. Book lovers, coffee lovers, foodies, and people looking to chill after a long day at the office. These are the usual customers you’ll see around here. And did we mention the place is also a tourist attraction as well? Where else will you find a place that serves breakfast and lunch, offers a good selection of wines, and books to read without leaving your seat? If you’re wondering what to do in Steamboat Springs, this is it.

Book and Bagel

Even with a cafe that serves two meals a day and a wine bar, the store hasn’t forgotten its roots. From the start, it was a bookstore when the owner Dick Ryan and his wife Leslie, decided to leave their jobs in Los Angeles, bought the small bookstore and moved to Steamboat Springs. They renovated the place, expanded it and renamed it to Off The Beaten Path. When the lease expired they moved to the current 4,000 square foot location after adding a cafe. At first, the cafe only offered coffee and a few baked options. But the clients needed more rounded meals and now you can enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast and a sumptuous lunch within its walls.

Poetry Slams

The bookstore remains at the heart of the business, which is why their poetry slams held every six weeks are such a big success. This celebration of poetry is a reminder that books will never go extinct. There’s even a literary event every year in collaboration with the public library, called Literary Sojourn, that attracts 500 people. Its Wi-Fi service allows you to stay connected to the world as you enjoy your whole day between the books, the food, and the wine.

Chill with Wine – What to do in Steamboat Springs

The wine bar was the latest addition to the successful business. It starts around 4 PM and caters to a steady clientele looking for a quiet drink in a classy atmosphere that is different from the noisy bars in the area. And if you ask many people, a glass of wine and a good book is the very definition of a good time.

Be prepared to spend the whole day in the Off The Beaten Path. It has got everything you need to keep you sated, happy, and entertained. Contact us for more information about the Steamboat Springs attractions.
