The Food

Harwig’s Steamboat Springs eclectic menu has kept both locals and tourists coming back since 1975. You can have a five-course meal or build a meal out of the appetizers and small plates. Some of the tastiest small plates include escargot with a red wine and garlic butter sauce and a rich cheese plate which includes a bold Roquefort. They also offer a traditional French onion soup which comes loaded with croutons and dripping with Swiss cheese.

The best of the appetizers is a delicious heart of palm fettuccini which brilliantly combines chanterelle mushrooms, zucchini, English peas, and brown butter. Seafood lovers will enjoy the poached lobster appetizer.

The salads are all very fresh and deliciously inventive. Be sure not to miss the sweet and crunchy watermelon salad which combines the refreshing fruit with lettuce, peanuts and balsamic vinaigrette. The stone fruit salad features cherries, apricots and pistachio nuts.

Entrees include a mero seabass which is accompanied by butternut squash and asparagus and a Black Angus filet in an oyster mushroom sauce.

The dessert menu at Harwig’s Steamboat features a creamy chocolate and banana flan as well as a light green tea creme brulee. The tastiest of the sweets is a cherry and hazelnut tart which comes with a lemongrass sabayon and mint sauce.
